Kit spoke as part of a six person panel from 12-1 pm about the
latest in senior finances including new ways to fund home care, assisted
living, and nursing home care. Other panelists included representatives
from residential care communities, hospice and home care organizations,
and assisted living facilities.

Edgewater Isle Senior Living -

Kit was asked to speak to the independent living residents about what to and how to prepare for their future. Ways to pay for various living arrangements will be discussed as well as the latest issues in senior finances.

Kit spoke at Hillsdale Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. While attendance was minimal, the information provided on the latest in senior finances was much appreciated... especially given the imminent need for those with a loved one in a long-term care facility.

Kit taught about the new options for long-term care coverage even for those denied insurance. Those in attendance were amazed at the various ways to pay for home, assisted living, and nursing home care without going broke. No one realized one need NOT be broke to qualify for Medi-Cal and learned how to legally get on Medi-Cal while keeping assets and protecting the home.

Thank you to those who attended the course "How To Maximize Your Retirement Account Under New IRS Laws". THose in attendance were amazed they had never heard this information before, even from financial institutions holding their account(s). Many plan on acting to benefit themselves and their heirs very soon!! What happens AFTER you pass on your account(s) can create more value than a lifetime of wise investing... if you plan.

Kit taught a course on all options to preserve an estate from long-term care expenses. THere were 2 sisters in the class who are caring for ailing husbands who could greatly benefit from the information provided. NEW options and approaches were discussed.

She was part of a 5 person panel who discussed a variety of senior concerns such as home care, hospice, adult healthcare centers, assisted living facilities, and much more!! Thanks to those who attended the SMART course on new IRS Laws RE: Retirement Accounts. Learning about the proper distribution of ones IRA was helpful to those doing proper estate planning. This often overlooked aspect of how this asset NOT in a trust can leave a legacy instead of a tax bill was new to all in attendance.

Senate Insurance Committe Hearing - February 27, 2003
Kit presented as a representative of the California Association of Senior Estate Planners (CASEP) at a hearing focusing on annuities and alleged abuses among seniors by agents. There was scores and scores of testimony and a concern for how to protect senior consumers from fraud and legitimate financial abuses. Kit presented the positive side of annuities and annuities of all types as well as how these can avoid
Medi-Cal. Targeting wrong-doers is one thing, but blackening the entire industry from doing good for a lot of seniors and confusing the issues is another. If you would like to learn more and write your legislator, call

Kit spoke to this group of caregivers about various ways to pay for home care, assisted living, and nursing home care. Other related topics were also discussed such as utilizing a reverse mortgage to provide funds for long-term care insurance or to pay for care. Thank you for having me

Financial Planning for Long-Term Care - March 13, 2003
Kit taught an evening course on long-term care insurance, Medi-Cal
planning, and the various ways to fund long-term care expenses. Students
in attendance asked many questions. Life insurnace/long-term care
policies, annuity/ltc policies, home healthcare for uninsurables, and
reverse mortgages were also discussed. Thanks for coming out of the rain

New Rules Regarding the IRAs and Other IRA DIstrubition Planning Issues -
March 20, 2003

Thank you to the attendees of this new San Mateo Adult School course.
We discussed the NEW IRS rules regarding cutting taxes on IRA
withdrawals, and how you can leave more of your retirement account to
heirs upon your death. Roth IRAs and using life insurance to leverage
assets were also discussed.
